Baseball

Tyler Busso

Player of the Year

Tyler Basso, Stone Bridge, Sr.
A first-team All-Met, Basso was also Virginia AAA Liberty District and Northern Region pitcher of the year. He posted a 0.84 ERA, allowing only 27 hits and seven earned runs in 58 innings pitched. He lead the district's strongest starting staff with an 8-1 record and 70 strikeouts against only 10 walks. He also contributed at the plate, where he hit .333 on the season as the Bulldogs' starting third baseman.

Coach of the Year

Sam Plank, Stone Bridge
In his eighth year as the Bulldogs' skipper, Plank guided an experienced squad to a 20-4 record and its first Liberty District regular season and tournament titles. The banner season included two wins against Madison, including a 10-0 rout in the tournament final, marking the first victories for the Bulldogs over the perennial district power.

First Team

P Cole Shain, Broad Run, Sr.
The Spartans' lefty ace posted a region-high nine wins, with a 2.29 ERA, 57 strikeouts and only 23 walks in 61 innings pitched. Shain, who earned first-team all-Dulles District and all-Region II honors, will pitch for William & Mary next season.

P Jake Kline, Potomac Falls, Jr.
A first-team all-district and second-team all-Region II selection, Kline led the Panthers to crucial victories with multiple complete games.

C Dylan Smith, Park View, Sr.
The Dulles District and Region II Player of the Year, Smith hit .525. As the cleanup hitter in the Patriots' order, he drove in 20 runs, drew 10 walks, was hit by a pitch four times and didn't strike out all year.

1B Aaron Sweger, Potomac Falls, Sr.
Last year's Dulles District Player of the Year was a key bat in the Panthers' high-octane offense. Sweger hit .474 with 34 hits and 28 runs and was voted first-team all-district and all-region.

2B Trey Brocke, Broad Run, Sr.
A first-team all-district and all-region selection, Brocke led the Spartans with 33 hits and seven doubles, driving in 16 runs and stealing 16 bases. He committed only one error.

3B Chris Taylor, Dominion, Jr.
Taylor, who was also the ace of Dominion's pitching staff, led the Titans' attack at the plate with a .469 average and 21 RBI on 23 hits. The junior only committed two errors.

SS Brenton Peters, Heritage, Jr.
The Pride's junior shortstop hit .381 with 1 .481 on-base percentage and slugged .619, hammering two home runs and four triples among his 24 hits.

OF Johnny Bladel, Stone Bridge, Jr.
Voted Liberty District Co-Player of the Year, Bladel was the Bulldogs' most consistent source of offense with 33 hits, including six doubles, two triples and three home runs, 27 RBI, 18 walks and 11 stolen bases.

OF Jonathan Mason, Park View, Jr.
Mason was a big producer in the heart of the Patriots' order, hitting .460 with 14 RBI on 29 hits, including nine doubles, two triples and two home runs.

F Andrew Mann, Broad Run, Sr.
The Spartans' center fielder tore up the base paths all season from the leadoff spot, scoring a team-high 31 runs and tallying a region-high 28 stolen bases. Mann, who was a unanimous first-team all-district selection and made first-team all-region, drew a team-high 15 walks.

DH John Rogerson, Heritage, Sr.
Rogerson led the Pride's offense, hitting .397 with 25 hits, including four doubles. The senior, who split time at first base, collected 16 RBI, drew 10 walks, struck out only nine times and stole seven bases.

UTIL Alex Owens, Loudoun Valley, Soph.
Sharing time at first and third base, Owens led the Viking offense with a .440 average, collecting 25 hits, 19 RBI, 14 runs, seven doubles, one triple, two home runs, a .517 on-base percentage and a .660 slugging percentage.

Softball

Player of the Year

Caitlyn Delahaba, Broad Run, Sr.
This season's All-Met Player of the Year, Delahaba led Broad Run to its second straight Virginia AA state championship, capping a two-year run in which the Spartans won 57 games in a row. Delahaba closed the season by throwing 160 consecutive scoreless innings — a Virginia High School League record — and did not allow an earned run. She had 427 strikeouts, 25 shutouts, 10 no-hitters and four perfect games while yielding just 25 hits in 27 starts. In three years as Broad Run's starting pitcher, Delahaba compiled a 78-1 record. She will play for Villanova.

Coach of the Year

Ed Steele, Broad Run
The Spartans entered the season ranked in several national polls and with expectations to capture another state title. With Steele at the helm, the team's focus never wavered. Tough when the situation called for it and laid back at the right times, Steele steered the Spartans to another unbeaten season and a spot among the best teams ever in the Washington metro area.

First Team

C Kayla Lechler, Stone Bridge, Sr.
The Northern Region Player of the Year, Lechler batted .506 with 10 home runs, 10 doubles and 28 RBI. The Columbia-bound Lechler guided Stone Bridge to the Virginia AAA Liberty District regular season title.

1B Karla Powell, Broad Run, Sr.
Opponents never found a way to slow the Wisconsin-bound Powell, who batted .506 with 28 RBI, 11 doubles and two home runs. She is a three-time All-Met selection.

2B Michelle Clohan, Broad Run, Sr.
Broad Run's vocal leader on the diamond, Clohan batted .379 with 16 RBI. Clohan will play for James Madison.

3B Rachel Harvey, Loudoun Valley, Sr.
Harvey, a first-team all-Cedar Run District choice, batted .410 with 11 RBI and 14 runs. She only struck out six times, helping the Vikings emerge as a contender in only their third season at the Virginia AAA level.

SS Ashley Kramer, Broad Run, Sr.
The ideal leadoff hitter for a team packed with power, Kramer batted a team-high .535 with 13 walks and 44 runs. The Longwood-bound senior also had 18 RBI and 13 stolen bases.

OF Dee Dee Fryer, Dominion, Sr.
Dangerous Tennessee-bound hitter made the most of the few quality pitches she saw, batting .581 with 28 runs, 13 RBI and four home runs. She had an on-base percentage of .750, drawing 24 walks.

OF Emily Garcia, Park View, Sr.
An all-Region II selection, Garcia batted .390 with 17 RBI, 20 runs and five doubles. She also had a .989 fielding percentage. She will play for Christopher Newport.

OF Rochelle Latka, Loudoun County, Jr.
Sharp hits and deep fly balls rarely got past Latka, who had a .984 fielding percentage and committed only one error this season. Latka also batted .505 with 28 RBI, 41 runs and four triples to lead the Raiders to the Virginia AA quarterfinals.

P Caroline Williams, Loudoun Valley, Jr.
With a bottomless repertoire of pitches, Williams went 19-4, racked up 149 strikeouts and compiled a 0.85 ERA to lead the Vikings to the Virginia AAA quarterfinals.

P Laura Heironimus, Park View, Sr.
Heironimus compiled 122 strikeouts and a 1.67 ERA, leading the Patriots to within a win of a region berth. She had a 13-4 record, with all her losses coming against state tournament teams. She was a first-team all-Dulles District selection.

UTIL Lauren Wolz, Stone Bridge, Sr.
One of the toughest outs in the area, Wolz batted .500 with 10 doubles, four home runs and 33 RBI. She only made three errors at first base. Wolz will play for Division III Case Western Reserve (Ohio).

UTIL Lindsey Holtz, Loudoun County, Jr.
Holtz did a little of everything to help the Raiders reach the AA state tournament, compiling a 19-4 record in the pitcher's circle while batting .435 with 27 RBI and 13 doubles. Holtz had a 2.87 ERA and scored 20 runs.

Ronnie Shaban

Player of the Year

Ronnie Shaban, Stone Bridge, Sr.
After moving from defense to forward, Shaban showed he is just as effective near the opponent's net as he was in front of his own, scoring 14 goals and adding 10 assists to lead the Bulldogs to the Liberty District and Northern Region titles and a school-record 18 wins. He will play for Columbia.

Coach of the Year

Arturo Jimenez, Park View
Jimenez instilled a possession style of soccer at Park View, which spurred the Patriots to the Virginia AA Dulles District tournament title and Region II crown.

First Team

GK Calle Brown, Loudoun County, Soph.
The first-team all-Dulles District selection showed an ability to make the big saves and is one of the top young talents in the county.

D Chris Kamara, Stone Bridge, Jr.
A menacing presence in the middle of the Bulldogs' defense, the second-team All-Met selection was one of the top defenders in the state and vital member of Northern Region champions.

D Shane Johnson, Broad Run, Sr.
The first-team All-District and honorable mention All-Met selection was the key component of an organized and efficient defense for the Spartans. He will play for Longwood.

MF Alex Velasco, Park View, Sr.
The first-team all-region and honorable mention All-Met midfielder used skill and vision to run the dangerous Park View attack, scoring 12 goals and adding 18 assists.. He will play for Virginia Military Institute.

MF Amadu Bangaru, Heritage, Sr.
A physical player in the center of the Pride's midfield, the first-team all-region and honorable mention All-Met set the school record for career goals with 37 to lead the Pride to the Dulles District regular season title.

MF Eric Skogerboe, Stone Bridge, Sr.
The talented center midfielder helped guide the Bulldogs to the Northern Region title, often marking opposing teams' most talented midfielder while remaining a scoring threat with six goals and three assists.

F Andres Contreras, Park View, Sr.
The quick, skilled forward was a major scoring threat for the Patriots, scoring 16 goals with 11 assists and combining with Velasco to make Park View one of the more potent offenses in the region.

F Matt Backenstoss, Loudoun County, Sr.
A dangerous striker, Backenstoss created mismatches with defenses. The first team all-district selection showed good pace and a strong finishing touch to lead the Raiders.

F Ivan Callejas, Heritage, Sr.
The breakout player on the Pride's district champion squad, the honorable mention All-Met selection scored in nearly every game for the Pride — finishing with 12 on the season — and was one of the most dangerous forwards in the district.

F Uche Onyeador, Potomac Falls, Sr.
The three-time All-Met selection scored 26 goals to break the Virginia career scoring record with 127 goals. With size, speed and skill, he commanded the respect of every team he faced. He will play for Georgetown.

F Mike Herndon, Stone Bridge, Soph.
Paired with Shaban up top, Herndon showed good movement, skill and speed for the Bulldogs. A young player with plenty of potential, Herndon earned the praise of several opposing coaches.

Holly King

Player of the Year

Holly King, Broad Run, Jr.
As Broad Run went 24-0 in winning the Virginia AA state title, the Spartans looked to King (15 goals, 13 assists) to organize an offense that outscored its opponents 113-16. She has committed to Florida.

Coach of the Year

Claire Collins, Broad Run
In her sixth season, Collins led Broad Run to a 24-0 finish, capturing her second consecutive Virginia AA Dulles District and Region II title and first state title. Collins has coached the Spartans to four state tournament berths, posting a 131-35-14 record.

First Team

F Julianne Rickers, Loudoun County, Sr.
The co-Dulles District Player of the Year, Rickers scored 22 goals in just 12 games. She will play for Miami (Fla.).

F Kelly Evans, Broad Run, Jr.
Evans had 31 goals and 12 assists to help Broad Run take to the state title. She has committed to Old Dominion.

F Krysti Rodriguez, Stone Bridge, Jr.
After her 2007 season, in which seven of her 15 goals were game-winners, the two-time All-Met drew heavy defensive pressure, yet still managed 13 goals — three game-winners — and 14 assists. She has committed to Hofstra.

MF Sam Scolarici, Freedom-South Riding, Fr.
A converted midfielder, the 5-foot-5 speedster controlled the center of the field for Freedom and scored the first goal on Broad Run's defense, which had not given up a goal to a district opponent in its first eight games.

MF Ashley Manning, Loudoun Valley, Soph.
Manning recorded 26 goals this spring, breaking the school's record for goals in a season.

D Lindsay Henry, Stone Bridge, Jr.
Solidifying the backline, Henry often sparked the offense by placing skillful passes forward for the offense.

D Aly Gazarek, Freedom-South Riding, Sr.
The University of South Florida-bound senior helped organize the defense.

F/D Valerie Powell, Broad Run, Jr.
Powell split time between forward and defender but was best known for her powerful throw-ins as Broad Run won the state title.

D Brea Hewitt, Briar Woods, Jr.
A first team all-district and all-region selection, Hewitt helped 11-4 Briar Woods post eight shutouts.

D Olivia Mackey, Loudoun County, Sr.
A first team all-district selection, Mackey helped frustrate some of the district's top scoring threats.

GK Caitlin Hunter, Broad Run, Jr.
Hunter recorded 67 saves and 13 shutouts and allowed just 16 goals with a 0.66 goals against average in helping the undefeated Spartans to the district, Region II and state titles. She has committed to UNC Wilmington.

GK Melissa Mailley, Briar Woods, Sr.
Regarded as one of the toughest goalkeepers in Loudoun County, Mailley — a three-year team captain — helped the third-year program rise from a seventh-place Dulles finish in 2006 to a third-place finish in 2008, making more than 500 saves in her career. She will play for George Mason.

Stephen Law

Player of the Year

Stephen Law, Briar Woods, Sr.
Law began the season at No. 2 behind teammate Patrick Melbourne but quickly ascended to the top spot, where he finished the season 16-4 and helped lead the Falcons to the Virginia AA Dulles District regular season and tournament titles. Law also won the district singles tournament title.

Coach of the Year

Jim Noland, Briar Woods
Noland earns his second straight All-Extra Coach of the Year honors after leading the Falcons to an undefeated district record and back-to-back tournament titles. With Law and Melbourne leading the way, Briar Woods advanced to the Region II final before falling to Western Albemarle, 5-2.

First Team

Andrew Morris, Potomac Falls, Sr.
The Panthers' No. 1 finished with a 15-4 singles record and a 17-2 mark in doubles, advancing to the Region II semifinals in both. Morris won the regular season district singles title, and he and partner Adam Gonder took home the Dulles District doubles tournament title.

Patrick Melbourne, Briar Woods, Sr.
Starting at No.1 before shifting to No. 2 midway through the season, Melbourne compiled a 19-1 record, which included two wins in regional play. He teamed with Law to win the regular season district doubles title, and the two advanced to the Region II before falling to Western Albemarle.

Josh Montgomery, Loudoun County, Sr.
Playing at No. 3 singles for Raiders, Montgomery finished the season 16-2 and came on strong at the end of the year, beating Briar Woods's previously undefeated Kyle Slack in the district team tournament final and knocking off his opponent from Western Albemarle in a Region II quarterfinal.

Chad Henderson, Loudoun Valley, Jr.
Behind Henderson's strong play at No. 1 singles and doubles, the Vikings finished the regular season tied for second in the AAA Cedar Run District. Henderson's regular season singles record was 9-5.

Jordan Gupp, Heritage, Jr.
Gupp tied for third place in the district, finishing the regular season 7-7 to qualify for the tournament. He faced Morris in the first round and held his own before falling 3-6, 1-6.

Player of the Year

Kiersten Pappas, Loudoun Valley, Jr.
The Vikings' top player led her team to an undefeated regular season and a run to the AAA state semifinals. After winning the Cedar Run District and Northwest Region singles titles, Pappas advanced to the state final. The co-captain also finished undefeated in doubles play during the regular season.

Coach of the Year

Kathryn Hackney, Park View
In her eighth year with the Patriots, Hackney oversaw a squad that made school history, claiming its first regular season district championship in 32 years and nearly completing a perfect regular season schedule, falling to Broad Run in their second-to-last match to finish 13-1. Hackney's squad finished second to Heritage in the district tournament and advanced to the Region II tournament.

First Team

Meleah Nassar, Heritage, Sr.
Nassar went 13-1 in Dulles District singles play (15-2 overall) and only dropped three games in four sets as she cruised to the district singles title. Teaming with partner Annie Replogle, she went 12-2 in district doubles play (14-3 overall), and the duo were runners-up in the tournament after taking the regular season crown.

Kerry Sarver, Loudoun County, Jr.
After suffering only one defeat at No. 4 in 2007, Sarver equaled her regular season result at No. 2 in 2008, posting a 13-1 mark. Sarver also took home the Dulles District doubles title as she and partner Megan Hurley ousted Heritage's top tandem of Nassar and Replogle in the final.

Carla Wong, Freedom-South Riding, Soph.
The Eagles' No. 1 posted a 13-2 regular season singles record and a 10-4 doubles mark, becoming the first Freedom player to reach the Dulles District tournament and leading her team to its first-ever victory against Potomac Falls.

Elissa Kim, Briar Woods, Soph.
Kim finished with a 9-5 mark at No. 1 singles for the Falcons, avenging regular season losses to Wong with a win in the singles tournament semifinals. She finished second to Nassar and advanced to regional play.

Juliana Jacangelo, Loudoun Valley, Soph.
Jacangelo helped provide a strong one-two punch with Pappas at the top of the Vikings' lineup. Playing at No. 2 singles, she lost only once during the Cedar Run play (13-1) and teamed with Pappas to complete an undefeated campaign at No. 1 doubles (13-0).

John Lewis

Athlete of the Year

John Lewis, Loudoun County, Sr.
Lewis earned three gold medals at the Virginia AA Dulles District championships, taking the 100 (11.1 seconds) and the 110 hurdles (14.78 seconds) while sparking his 4x100 relay team that won in 44.15 seconds.

Coach of the Year

Mike Hitzges, Broad Run
Hitzges guided the Spartans to their second straight Dulles District championship and to third place at the Region II meet, the county's top finish.

First Team

Daniel Allen, Stone Bridge, Jr.
At the Liberty District championships, Allen won the 100 meters title in 11.04 seconds and anchored the Bulldogs' 4x100 relay team, Loudoun's fastest, to a victory in 43.54 seconds. He was also runner-up in the 200 in 22.25 seconds.

Zach Canady, Loudoun Valley, Soph.
Canady was runner-up in the triple jump at 43 feet 10 inches at the Cedar Run District championships. He also went 43-10 at a district meet earlier in the season.

Ryan Hagen, Potomac Falls, Jr.
Hagen captured the 800 meters title at the Dulles District championships in 2 minutes 1.89 seconds and helped Potomac Falls' 4x800 relay team win in 8:24.09. He was runner-up in the 400 in 50.56 seconds.

Josh Hardin, Potomac Falls, Jr.
Hardin captured the 1,600 and 3,200 meter titles at the Dulles District championships, with times of 4:31.89 and 9:49.12, respectively.

Alex Hogue, Potomac Falls, Sr.
Hogue scored 32 points at the Dulles District championships. He won the long (20-9.25) and triple (42-5.5) jumps, tied for third in the high jump (5-11), was third in the 400 (51.16) and was sixth in the 200 (23.68).

Rashawn Hugg, Broad Run, Jr.
Hugg won the 200 (22.58) and the 400 (50.12) at the Dulles District championships and helped his 4x400 relay team win in 3:28.93.

Didier Saidi, Broad Run, Jr.
Saidi won the Dulles District high jump championship with 6-5. He was also fifth in the long jump (19-7) and sixth in the triple jump (39-4.25).

Sam Saidi, Broad Run, Sr.
Saidi was runner-up in the high jump (6-3) and the long jump (20-0.25) at the Dulles District championships. He went a season-best 6-8 in the high jump at the LoudounPrepSports.com Invitational.

Trevor Springman, Stone Bridge, Jr.
Springman won the Liberty District shot put title with 49-8.75. He went 51-3.5 at the Cassels XBC invitational.

Shehzaib Usman, Park View, Sr.
Usman earned a comfortable victory in the discus at the Dulles District championships at 139-11. He went 149-7 at the Apple Blossom Invitational.

Girls' Track and Field

Athlete of the Year

Natalie Baird, Park View, Sr.
The All-Met Athlete of the Year has never lost to an area competitor in the discus. She hurled the disc 154 feet 8 inches to become the first high school athlete to win the Penn Relays competition three straight years. She also threw the shot 44-8. At the Virginia AA state meet, she had a discus throw of 161-7, which set a VHSL girls' record. She will compete for William & Mary.

Coach of the Year

Randy Kerico, Park View
Kerico, who has a throwing background, developed an excitement in his girls about the shot put and the discus and used those events to propel the Patriots to their second straight Virginia AA state title, a second consecutive Region II title and a runner-up finish at the Dulles District championships.

First Team

Jazlynn Finney, Heritage, Sr.
Finney was the Dulles District long jump champion with 16-10.5 and anchored Heritage's 4x100 relay team that won in 50.29 seconds. She also second in the 200 (26.45) and third in the 100 (12.73).

Charlene Fowler, Park View, Sr.
Fowler was runner-up in the 100 in 12.71 at the Dulles District championships and anchored Park View to a runner-up performance in the 4x100 relay (51.65). She also scored in the 400, long jump and high jump.

Laura Heitz, Broad Run, Sr.
Heitz captured the Dulles District high jump championships with 5-2, her first jump this season over 5 feet.

Christina Lee, Potomac Falls, Soph.
Lee won the Dulles District 1600 title in 5 minutes 17.07 seconds and was runner-up in the 800 in 2:22.7. She ran 5:07.67 in the mile at the Southern Track Classic.

Stephanie Paradis, Stone Bridge Jr.
Paradis won three titles at the Liberty District championships, capturing the 800 in 2:21.30 and the 1,600 in 5:11.33 and helping her 4x800 relay to the victory in 9:29.37.

Lauren Privette, Loudoun Valley, Soph.
Privette won three titles at the Cedar Run District championships. She took the long jump with 19 feetand the triple jump with 36-11 and was on Valley's winning 4x100 relay team (49.29). Privette also scored in the high jump and the 200.

Julie Strange, Loudoun County, Soph.
Strange won the 3,200 title at the Dulles District championships in 11:45.58. She also placed second in the 1,600 in 5:27.03. She went 11:29.69 in the 3,200 at the Nike Invitational.

Lauren Tomlinson, Park View, Sr.
Tomlinson was runner-up in the shot put with 41-5 at the Dulles District championships and was third in the discus with 119-10. At the AA state meet, she finished third in the shot and fourth in the discus with a personal-best 125-11.

Theresa Trader, Loudoun Valley, Sr.
Trader was second in the 100 hurdles in 15.10 seconds and second in the 300 hurdles in 45.85 seconds at the Cedar Run District championships. She also ran on Valley's 4x100 relay team that won in 49.29 seconds.

Jennifer Weatherly, Dominion, Sr.
Weatherly showed speed and power in sweeping the sprints at the Dulles District championships. She won the 100 in 12.36 seconds, the 200 in 25.26 seconds and the 400 in 57.29 seconds. She also captured the 200 at the AA state meet with a time of 26.0 seconds.

Will Fields

Player of the Year

Will Fields, Notre Dame Academy, Sr.
Fields demonstrated his elite skills by winning 71 percent of his faceoffs and contributing 12 goals and nine assists for the Maryland Independent Lacrosse League champions. He will play at Navy.

Coach of the Year

Jeff Lewandowski, Loudoun Valley
In his first year as head coach of the Vikings, Lewandowski took a team led by mostly sophomores and juniors to a program-best fourth-place finish in the Northwest Region.

First Team

A Michael Fawkes, Dominion, Jr. A leader for the Titans' young offense, the all-Dulles District first-teamer helped Dominion improve during the course of the season and win three of its last four.

A Will Garrett, Highland, Jr. With at least a hat trick in half of his team's 16 games, Garrett finished with 50 goals, 42 assists and 59 groundballs as the Delaney Athletic Conference's co-player of the year.

A Eric Madigan, Broad Run, Sr. The two-time All-Dulles District honoree was an outstanding scorer (55 goals) and passer (45 assists) who also had 37 groundballs entering the Virginia High School League quarterfinals.

A Dean Stambules, Heritage, Sr. An intelligent, unselfish player, Stambules had 66 goals and 41 assists, both of which broke his own team records, and earned Dulles District player of the year honors.

M Chris Daddio, Loudoun Valley, Soph. An experienced player originally from the lacrosse hotbed of Long Island, Daddio won 86 percent of his faceoffs and finished the season with 37 goals and five assists.

M David Miller, Notre Dame Academy, Sr. A three-time team captain and three-time All-MILL honoree, Miller had 10 goals and 12 assists this season and finished his career with 179 goals. He will play at Maryland.

D Matt Miller, Notre Dame Academy, Jr. A dynamic defender for the Dragons, Miller handled the top opposing offensive players and finished with three goals, three assists, 81 groundballs and 41 take-aways.

D Seth Rose, Highland, Jr. An aggressive, shutdown defender with great stick skills, Rose recorded 63 groundballs and 18 take-aways to help Highland finish 14-3 this season.

D Kyle Startsman, Heritage, Sr. Guarding top offensive players, the hardworking Startsman drew only 13 penalties and had 53 groundballs and more than 40 takeaways for the 14-3 Pride.

D Eric Zimmet, Broad Run, Sr. Beyond picking up 31 groundballs, Broad Run's leading defenseman helped the Spartans to a second-place finish in the Region II tournament and 16-2 record entering the VHSL tournament.

GK Thorne Watkins, Fauquier, Sr. The most valuable player of the Cedar Run District saved 70 percent of the shots he faced, and even in a season-ending 6-5 loss to Osbourn Park, Watkins made 32 saves.

Lauren Guisti

Player of the Year

Lauren Giusti, Stone Bridge, Soph.
In just her second year on varsity, Giusti set school records for goals (71), assists (44) and points (115), and she scored eight goals in the Bulldogs' 14-11 win over W.T. Woodson in the Virginia AAA Liberty District championship game.

Coach of the Year

Jay Harkey, Loudoun Valley
Harkey guided Loudoun Valley (16-5) to the VSHL semifinals for the second time in three years. In addition, the Vikings won the AAA Cedar Run district title, made the Northwest Region final and went undefeated against league competition.

First Team

GK Allison Bogle"Broad Run, Jr.
Bogle had 174 saves to help the Spartans win the Dulles District and qualify for the VHSL state tournament.

D Katie Dacanay"Potomac Falls, Sr.
She set single-season school records in assists (50) and groundballs (118). She scored 10 goals and will play for St. Francis (Pa.).

D Krysten Johnson"Broad Run, Sr.
The tenacious defender had six goals, five assists and 59 groundballs for the Spartans, who went 15-3.

A Liz Klemens"Loudoun Valley, Sr.
Klemens scored 31 goals and assisted on 14 others to help guide Loudoun Valley to the state semifinals. She will play for Christopher Newport.

A Meredith Rogers"Broad Run, Jr.
Rogers scored a team-high 74 goals, assisted on 14 others and had 79 groundballs.

MF Abby Chrisinger"Fauquier, Sr.
The four-year varsity player had 47 goals this season and more than 150 in her career. The team captain also had 30 assists.

MF Meghan DeMartino"Stone Bridge, Sr.
The Bulldogs' most aggressive player had 52 goals and 38 assists and caused countless turnovers with her stick checks.

MF Jessica Harkey"Loudoun Valley, Sr.
The Cedar Run District Player of the Year fueled the Vikings' deep run in the playoffs. She had 23 goals and 20 assists. She will play for University of Maryland Baltimore County.

MF Shannon Harkey"Loudoun Valley, Soph.
The second-year varsity player scored a team-high 52 goals and had 32 assists.

MF Ashton Marshall"Foxcroft, Soph.
The all-Independent School League player moved from attack to midfield and broke the school record for goals in a season with 59. She also had 12 assists.

MF Kristen Pascale"Stone Bridge, Sr.
The faceoff midfielder won 80 percent of her draws. She scored 22 goals and had 25 assists.

MF Kate Sistare"Broad Run, Jr.
The Spartans points leader had 51 goals and 41 assists and scooped up 71 groundballs.
